For clarity of direction, self-trust beyond mindset, and the boundaries that make work and life feel more spacious and alive.

For women leaders, creatives and entrepreneurs: wherever you're feeling depleted, uncertain or stuck, or needing to feel at home in your own skin again, I walk with you to the other side of it.

What may be here for you

How it looks from the outside

Capable. Relied on. Well-regarded. Grateful for what you've built.

How it feels on the inside

Stretched thin. Second-guessing. Carrying things alone. Wondering how to keep up with the pace.

What's in the way

If you're used to thinking your way through feeling stuck or depleted, you've probably hit a wall, often at 3 a.m. Reading books, weighing options and pushing through may have helped, but often it doesn't reach the layers beneath, where you feel centered and aligned with your direction.

That's because most of us learned early to take in others' thoughts, emotions, judgments, expectations and even dreams. Over time, this makes it confusing to read your own compass, especially under pressure.

The good news

What isn't yours can be set down.

Nothing about you needs fixing. When old patterns behind this begin to unwind and what weighs on you is set down, your own system becomes clear again: a knowing that lives layers deeper than your doubts. From here, you can stand steady when things get challenging, without forcing anything.

What changes

Trust your own direction.

What may be here

Carrying what isn't yours
youWorkTeamFamilyPartner
Boundaries blur. Your body carries it all. Your own direction gets harder to hear.

What can change

CENTERED IN YOUR CORE SELF
youWorkTeamFamilyPartner
Deeper connection. Clearer boundaries, more ease. You're built for this.

As the noise quiets, you stay close to the people and work you care about, and your own direction becomes clear again.

Beyond mindset

Deepen your self-trust

A protected, private space within your full life to pause, find clarity beneath the noise and mind chatter, and come to recognize what's yours and your way forward. Beside you is someone experienced who understands the anatomy of self-trust: how body, mind and inner life work together.

01

Pause

A space that will feel yours, where you don't have to do more, fix yourself or over-explain. Just room to feel at home in yourself and trust what's yours.

02

Know

We go beneath the thinking, to the knowing in your body. Through gentle somatic dialogue and deep energy work, I help you set down what isn't yours, so your inner signals become easier to recognize: your yes, your no and the insight and creative ideas that emerge.

03

Integrate

Between sessions, I create custom practices shaped by what's alive in our work. They're light, never homework, and they help what we've opened take root, so self-trust and leadership presence can keep emerging in daily life.

04

Bring it to form

Step by step, at your pace and in step with your responsibilities, you lead and embody what's yours. As things shift on the inside, they often shift on the outside too, in your work and in your relationships. Patterns carried through generations can end with you, and the people you lead and love benefit too.

Change happens in relationship. I stay with you inside the process, through honest dialogue, somatic work, and attention to the family patterns beneath what you carry, while holding clear boundaries, so what we uncover becomes yours to own.

Is this for you?

This work is for leaders called to follow their own direction, who are in it for more than a title.

It may be a fit if

  • You face challenges as a leader that call for steady inner authority
  • You want to continue to grow without stepping away from your work or your life
  • You're open to working somatically with what your body holds, not only the mind, and releasing what's kept you from feeling like yourself lately

It may not be a fit if

  • You're looking for a quick fix, a script or strategy tips
  • You'd like someone to tell you what to do rather than build your own inner authority
  • You want the results but are not interested in doing inner work
  • You're currently under psychiatric care

What opens up for you

As what's yours comes into focus, this is what people often find waiting for them.

Self-trust you can feel

Knowing in your body, not just in your head, what's yours, and trusting it when others push back.

Standing your ground

Saying no without the old guilt, and finding the relationship holds. Holding your own course instead of being pulled into other people's plans.

Hearing your own direction

Telling what's yours apart from the voices that keep you doubting yourself, so you can act with clarity from your own wisdom.

In your own lane

Waking up feeling you're doing the work you're here to do, even on the hard days.

Energy and creativity come back

A steadier energy that doesn't run out by the end of the day, with room again for ideas and the project that's been waiting for years.

Relationships that give back

Connections built on respect and mutuality, where you are not always the one giving more.

Leading, and living, from your own center.

Maria C. Tello, founder of Working Sabbatical
Somatic self-trust coach · Brennan-trained healer
Specializing in women's collective patterns

In my early thirties, I was successful and also growing quietly unfulfilled. Every option I explored left me overwhelmed with doubt and resistance. What I longed for felt distant and unattainable.

What changed my life was working with someone experienced, with an unusual skill that made possible the kind of change nothing else had. Our sessions felt like a sabbatical space in the middle of my busy week: a unique place to set the weight down, mend what was in the way, find my answers and create what was really mine with more ease.

I came to understand that no one is meant to walk these roads alone.

I spent ten years training rigorously to offer others that same space, integrating somatic and human development with deep body-centered energy work within the therapeutic process. Before this, I was Director of Development at a Fortune 500 company, so I understand the demands of high-paced roles, and the quiet tension when life is asking for more.

Questions you might be holding

I've already tried many things. How is this different?

Some approaches to change work with mindset or strategy. Talking things through can bring clarity, but it doesn't always change what the body feels and holds on to. This work focuses on exactly that: the body, where your vitality may be held back, and the relationship and family patterns underneath, which is often where self-doubt actually lives. It builds on the work you've done, or are doing, at a deeper layer.

Will you tell me what to do?

No. I'll help you work through challenges and dilemmas, but the answers stay yours. I support you in moving beyond doubt and expectations, and help you understand your own inner compass, so you can sense what your body and a clear mind come to know. Most clients leave feeling centered, energized and clearer.

My schedule is already full. How do I add one more thing?

Our collaboration is built around a demanding calendar. Sessions are spaced out, and the reflection in between is deliberately light: no homework to feel guilty about skipping. Most clients find they look forward to it. For those who want to go deeper, there's optional material to explore between sessions.

What if opening this up is too much?

The work moves at the pace your system and life can take, and part of each session is making sure you leave feeling steady and energized.

I feel guilty investing in myself. Do I really need this?

Many leaders feel this, especially women, and especially when others rely on them. Whether this work is right for you now is yours to decide, and a first conversation is a good place to explore it.

Does needing support mean I can't do this on my own?

No. Patterns that span generations aren't meant to be resolved alone. Choosing support is a leadership decision, and a private one. It can also save you years of dead ends.

Is this therapy?

No. I'm not a licensed clinical therapist or psychotherapist. I'm a trained somatic healing practitioner and energy coach. I facilitate and teach the transformation of personal and generational patterns, as well as group dynamics. My training and work draw deeply on the therapeutic process. This work complements medical and psychological care, often reaching the body-based layers beyond mindset where change takes root. When helpful, I work alongside a client's physician, therapist or other clinicians. My training includes supporting people through deep trauma, but I don't work with clients who are currently under psychiatric care.

Can we work online?

Yes. Sessions are available online or in person in Austin, so you can join from wherever you are.

Is this only for women?

Most of the people I work with are women, and the work speaks to many of the patterns women carry. I also work with men who feel drawn to it.

What question are you carrying right now?

You don't have to find your way alone.

I work with a small number of leaders at a time. If this speaks to you, I'd welcome a 30-minute conversation: a chance to talk about what you're navigating, experience a little of this work, and see together whether it's the right fit. Send me a few lines, and I'll reply personally. It's complimentary and confidential, and we can meet online or in person.
